Bad Ideas for Roucha

I’ve been doing a bit of T-shirt design for Jill Winger and her fashion label, ROUCHA. We collab-ed on a couple of shirts last year and are doing more now. 

One thing I’ve really enjoyed is getting LIVE feedback on my work from Jill. After our initial discussion on direction, I’ll go away and brainstorm. Then we will meet back up to review the drawings.

Jill knows her craft as a designer and part of that is being able to articulate in the moment why some designs are a PASS aka a BAD IDEA, or why an idea is strikingly good and how to make it better. 

The good ideas are currently being prepared for a summer drop. I’ll be sure to link them here when they are available. But for now I thought it would be humorous & insightful to post 4 of my “bad ideas” and what I’ve learned from them. 

Notably, all 4 of these were drawn during a flight to Chicago. Maybe the oxygen levels at altitude were a bit too high on that flight! Ha!
